Polzeath Football Club held a lively Football Festival on Saturday 2nd May at St Minver Community Hub, bringing together players, supporters, and families for a day of sport and community spirit.
The event proved to be a great success, with around 200 people attending throughout the day. The turnout reflected the strong local support for the club and its efforts to raise funds while creating an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
The day featured a series of friendly matches and activities, with participants of all ages taking part. Whether on the pitch or cheering from the sidelines, there was a real sense of enthusiasm and togetherness. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with plenty of opportunities for people to catch up, support the players, and enjoy the occasion.
Despite some uncertainty in the forecast, the weather just about held off, allowing the event to go ahead without disruption. This was a welcome relief for organisers and attendees alike, helping to ensure the day ran smoothly and that everyone could make the most of the outdoor activities.
Polzeath Football Club’s efforts in organising the event were widely appreciated. The club worked hard to bring everything together, from coordinating the matches to ensuring there were refreshments and space for spectators to gather. Their dedication paid off, resulting in a successful fundraiser that also strengthened community ties.
Events like this highlight the important role local sports clubs play, not just in promoting physical activity, but in building a sense of belonging and shared purpose. The funds raised are going towards the U11 Team Norway Tour, and Polzeath Football Club, and will support the ongoing work at the Club, helping to sustain and develop opportunities for players now and in the future.
Overall, the day was a great example of what can be achieved when a community comes together. With strong attendance, positive energy, and just enough good weather, the fundraising event at St Minver Community Hub will be remembered as both an enjoyable and worthwhile occasion.
