Yesterday saw the closing of the incredible Kernow Jamboree. We at 1st St. Minver Scouts enjoyed an incredible week with just under 2,000 people on site. A chance for Scouts to meet and become friends with others from as far as New Zealand, and a chance for ‘old timers’ like me to catch up with...
1st St. Minver Scouts saw a local project they thought needed attention! Last week, they surveyed the bench, measured and calculated what materials were required etc. Tonight, with Leader help, they completed the task! Plenty of new skills learned. Our thanks to Travis Perkins, Wadebridge, who...
The St Minver Community Hub CIO is delighted to announce the award of a Shared Prosperity Fund grant of £600,000. This brings the total funds raised and pledged to some £900,000 enabling the construction of the new Community Hub Building in Trewint Playing Fields to commence early next year and to be in use by the end of 2024. This is a tremendous milestone for the project that was envisaged over 10 years ago and for which fund raising has been underway for 5 years.
It’s been an incredibly busy and productive time during the winter for 1st St. Minver Scout Group. In the Scout section, we have almost 30 boys and girls aged 10 to 14.
In these strange times we all find ourselves, creating a sustainable asset for our community is crucial. We have taken the opportunity to step back and review our requirements with a focus on keeping the cost down as much as feasibly possible, providing the most benefit to the community within the Hub we are creating and importantly, ensuring what we produce is sustainable and cost effective for years to come.
At 1st St. Minver Scout Group, we are delighted that Scouting continued during ‘Lockdown’, albeit in a very different format.
During this difficult time, I am delighted to report that the Scouts have continued with their Scouting activities from home. Various ‘broadcasts’ have been made to them, covering subjects such as knotting and cooking, and in return the Scouts have been communicating what Badge work...

The recreation ground at Trewint was bequeathed to the Parish in the 1950’s. Since then it has been home to St Minver Football Club. For the last 30 years it has also been home for the St Minver Scouts and Guides, and the pre-school along with the play area that was refurbished with a grant from Cornwall Council in 2002. Lowlands Parish Council maintain the site along with the public toilets. Each group has grown over the years and maintained their own buildings, but despite the best efforts of all those involved, with the exception of the pre-school which is a new, more recent build, the cost of on- going repairs is increasing and beyond the fund raising that each group can achieve.
