St Minver Community Hub CIO Starts work on new Community Building

The St Minver Community Hub CIO Trustees are delighted to announce that work on building the new Community Hub in the Trewint Playing Fields at St Minver commenced on Monday 4th March 2024. The build is scheduled for completion in December with all facilities in use by early 2025.

For many years there has been an aspiration to build a much needed Community Hub to replace existing facilities that are inadequate to meet today’s requirements and beyond upgrading or repair. The new Hub will provide facilities for all local people and be at the centre of our community.  This is now an opportunity for you to get involved in this exciting new venture.

Raising £900,000 has been a long and arduous task but now this has been achieved work is finally starting on building the facility that will make a real difference to our community. It is very exciting and makes all of the effort worthwhile.

This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Cornwall Council has been chosen by Government as a Lead Authority for the fund and is responsible for monitoring the progress of projects funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The remaining funds have come from local donations and fund-raising events, Private Charitable Funds, Public Charitable Funds, the Cornwall Council Community Infrastructure Levy fund, and community use of existing facilities. Our thanks go out to all of our very generous donors.

The Tender process resulted in five submissions being received and following a very rigorous scoring and review process the Contractor, St Piran Community Builds, was selected and the contract was signed on 26th February 2024.

The new building does not encroach onto the existing car park and the construction work will not affect access to the playground, Health Hub and other facilities on site.
